Personality: Ariel loves adventure. Dangerous is not a word that is in her vocabulary, no matter how much her father, and sea friends Sebastian and Flounder, try to tell her. She is fascinated by the human world, and much against her father’s rules, she makes visits to the surface to collect items lost at sea. Ariel is a beautiful singer and is well known in the ocean for her wonderful voice that even surpasses that of her six older sisters. However, she is not one to show off her talents and is very selfless when it comes to the ones she cares about.
Ariel adores listening to music and is very much like her mother, who died from a tragic accident when she was little. She is very opinionated and highly dislikes being treated like a child or even a princess for that matter. However, like a child, she would much rather play all day with her sea friends and sing than participate in festive royal activities, such as concerts and parties. Overall, she is a fun loving, caring mermaid who is very difficult to not get along with!
Before: Ariel was beloved by her entire kingdom, but although she had wealth and respect, she still felt unfulfilled. Being a princess meant almost nothing to her, and she often indulged in her obsession with learning more about the human race that was such a forbidden fruit. Her father, King Triton, never allowed her to go to the surface, but she often did while he was not watching over her.
One day, Ariel saw flashing lights from above, and she swam up to see the fireworks display coming from the large ship sailing through the water. Fascinated, she watched the humans dancing happily and fell in love at first sight with the young Prince Eric on board. She could see his kindness and found him very attractive until a tragedy happened. A storm came suddenly and destroyed the ship. Eric risked his own safety to rescue his dog, and he would have certainly drowned had Ariel not risked her own safety as well to save him.
After making a deal with the evil Sea Witch Ursula to spend time with Eric and foiling her plans to rule the ocean, King Triton decided to allow her to become a human so she could be with Prince Eric. Shortly after, the two were married.

After: The day the virus rolled through and stole the memories of the Kingdom of Disney, Ariel awoke on the sand of a beach with nothing on her but a drenched pink dress, a tiara, and surprisingly, a shiny scale-covered fish tail. The girl was quick to enter the ocean and found a strange and yet comforting familiarity behind it, never aware of what she had left behind.
Ariel soon discovered her place in the underwater kingdom and was astonished to have so many friends and SIX sisters! They did not all remember each other right away, but slowly but surely, they are getting along based on the feelings they receive from each other; the unbreakable bond that never diminished.
Eventually, the mermaid traveled back up to the surface, interested to figure out why she was up there in the first place, and in human clothes no less. Desperate to discover her past, she moved onto the sandy shore and found that she could turn into a human at will. With this new knowledge in mind, Ariel begins her journey to find out about herself and the people that might have known her beyond the ocean.
