The water lapped gently across the white sandy shore. The sun glistened down across the beautiful beach. Only the lightest of breezes brushed the palm trees. It was paradise. Something disturbed the beauty of it though. Something human in form. Tattered and seeming to be lifeless, lay a boy of not older than 18 across the damp sands of the beach not too far along the coast from the port town. He hadn't stirred for what seemed likely to have been two hours since he'd washed up on the peaceful scene but now some movements could be seen.
His face twitched when sea spray hit it and his fingers curled once the water brushed up along under it. Slowly his eyes fluttered open and then shut instantly in the glare of the sun. A groan broke through broken cracked lips and he slowly started moving his sea torn body so he could sit up. When his weakened form finally allowed for such a thing he tried the eyes open thing again, but the salt water still dampening the lids soaked into his blue orbs and made them burn horribly so that he had to wipe them with his sandy hands.
Finally when he could see again through blurry eyes he noticed his surroundings. A beach. A beautiful beach. Figures since he'd just jumped ship. Where the hell was he?? Who was he? And why had he been on that ship? His hand came up to rub at his temples where a headache was in full swing. He never even noticed that he had company while he tried to gather all the scattered pieces of who and what he was.

Why should I worry? Why should I care I might not have a dime But I got street saviore faire
Geez had it been a long few days. He still couldn't remember much about himself. He had figured out his name due to a collar that looked like it hadn't been on very long, so he knew that somebody cared about him...at least enough to give him a dog tag with his name on there. DODGER it had read. He liked it. It seemed to suit him well enough. It was cool, and he seemed like he was one cool cat...erm...I mean dog. Yes, one cool dog.
And the other cool part was he could be a human too. Although that wasn't half as much fun. Well, maybe half. But the dog was soo much faster and cooler. And he had a bandana AND a collar. Humans looked odd in both. So now he walked down a beach. He had left his original town a few days ago and was just getting to know the "world" again. And that was when he saw the boy lying on the beach.
uh oh. This can't be good, He thought to himself. People lying on the beach were never a good sign. So Dodger went and sat down a few feet away from him, thinking about what to do. He was about to step forward and lick his cheek...something that Dodger didn't particularly care to do...but whatever, when he MOVED! Dodger stood up and backed a few feet away, after all he didn't know what kind of person this was. What if it was DOG CATCHER!...wait...what was a dog catcher?? The idea tugged at his brain but he couldn't really remember anything specific. It wasn't very long before the human started to move around a bit more...and it became obvious that he had a head ache...and was obviously confused. Ha. Join the club. We have jackets.
So, being the slightly concerned canine that he was, and not wanting to become human right infront of the guy and TOTALLY freak him out...he layed down and whimpered, before just touching his hand with his nose.

OOC: If he could talk in the movie to people then the same thing applies.
Yup, there was a definite heading coming into the situation and as his clothes dried they felt tight on him. Sea water did that. He knew. He knew all the basic things. How to swim. How to walk. How to speak and how to steer a boat in the right direction but the thing he did not know was what his name was and where he was from and who he knew. He knew he was a sailor of some sort or he would not know the things he knew or be on a boat. Jim quirked a brow at the really confusing path his brain was taking him down and shook his head one more time to clear some of the fuzz at least.
He knew very well that he was dehydrated and that he was in desprate need for water. Where to find it was another point of much concern for him. His eyes flashed instantly to the wet nose that touched his hand and he yerked away when he saw the brown and white dog beside him. Jim was not really that much of dog person. He knew he was some kind of person and he knew he'd had some kind of pet... some kind of creature that proved a companion to him in the past but he didn't recall a name or a face. He knew it couldn't have possibly been a dog though or maybe it was.
He slowly let an awkward smile creep across his features aimed at the crawling creature. "Um... Hi there... are you lost? " Jim glanced around to see if his owner was close by. There was a collar and Bandana hanging around his neck so he had to belong to someone right? Just who was that someone? No one revealed themselves so Jim lowered his eyes to the dog once again and slowly, tentatively reached out to touch it wincing as his hand drew closer. "Don't bite me okay? We can be friends? Maybe I'm your owner even. So be a good boy..." Jim attempted unsure whether the creature would buy it or even understand what he was saying at all.
All he knew was that he needed company if he was gonna go out there to find out who he was.

The dog smirked as he watched the human jerk his hand away. It was KIND of funny. But it also kind of hurt his feelings. He knew he wasn't gonna hurt the fella, and even if he did have that intent, he was sure this guy could beat him up easy. Humans had more strength than dogs...even this little scrawny guy.
Dodger tilted his head to the side a bit as he was asked if he was lost. Well wasn't that a little rediculous? If Dodger knew anything, and that was debatable, it was that he was NEVER lost. He always knew WHERE he was...even if he didn't exactly know how he got there or where here was.
Then the man reached out to pet him. Obviously not used to dogs, hence the be a good dog and don't bite him parts of his words. If Dodge had been a human he would have laughed. But he was a dog, and apparently quite capable of scaring the bejesus out of this lad. So he sighed and lowered his head and pushed it into the guys hand so he could pet him. Gently. He knew he'd have to be easy with this human. No sudden movements...wasn't it usually the other way around?
After a minute he sat up and looked at the man. He WAS scrawny. With short hair. Being a dog at the moment he was kinda color blind so he couldn't really tell what color it was. He licked the boys hand, something that seemed fairly natural. Dodger still hadn't figured out if he was SUPPOSED to be a human or a dog...but right now he was much more comfortable as a dog, so he figured that was the way it should be...for now. Although moveable fingers and thumbs did make some things MUCH easier.
Who was this guy anyway. Judging by his face he didn't even know who he was. Well, Dodge could relate to that. He definitely knew how that went. Dodger looked towards the boys pockets, maybe he had a wallet in there with some identification. Everyone should know their names. He barked and pawed gently at his pocket where some sort of buldge was. He couldn't tell if it was a wallet for sure, or a small book or a sea shell or something, but there was something there for sure.

The dog was actually cute with him coming up and pressing his little head up into his palm to be petted and slowly Jim dared to look. The dog even licked his hand and seemed so happy about it. Like it came naturally for the scruffy mutt to do such. Jim's awkward smile touched his lips. Maybe this wasn't so bad that he'd met a friend like this dog. Maybe it was a good idea to keep the dog around. It would give him company and it would make things so much better in finding his identity. Jim slipped a hand behind the dogs ear and scratched before his fingers found a collar there.
Before Jim could look the dog started pawing at his jacket pocket and he was filled with curiousity about what was in there too suddenly. Couldn't be more then a... Jim pulled out the sphere and frowned at it. Suddenly a holographic image shot into the air above the sphere and Jim jumped back dropping the object suddenly and staring at the image which was blurring the whole time and flickering like at any moment it would fade into nothing. Jim's eyes flashed to the dog then to the sphere.
"Well good work. That helped. Now I know exactly who I am..." Jim grumbled at the dark and crossed his arms over his chest, glad to notice that he was actually drying out more and more under the heat of the sun.

Dodger was kind of glad that he had seemed to make this new friend. He had been wondering around alone for a little while, and he didn't particularly like that very much. He was a pack animal, he had to others around him. He hated being alone...most of the time.
As the man pulled out a sphere shapped object, Dodger was filled with curiosity and moved forward to sniff it. What was it? He'd never seen anything like it, at least he couldn't remember ever seeing anything like it.
But suddenly a strange image shot into the air, and Dodger yelped and took several steps backwords, and lay down, puting his chin in the sand.
As the human crossed his arms he spoke once more and Dodger tilted his head to the side. Was he serious? Or was that his way of being sarcastic or funny. If he was being serious it must be nice. Dodger knew his name, but that was only because of the collar around his neck. He didn't know where he came from, or who he belonged to, or if he had any friends, and that kind of made him sad. But with any luck maybe he had a new friend.

Jim noticed the dog had the same sort of reaction to the strange sphere as he had. Maybe he and this strange pet had something in common though noticing from the fact that he had no wet furr he could tell that the dog had not escaped the ship like he himself had done. Then he noticed the collar around the dog's neck that he hadn't noticed before and his interest in the strange sphere faded instantantly. Slowly and cautiously he reached out to touch the dog's head. "It's okay, boy. It won't kill us. I'm sure of it." He whispered tenderly as he slid his hand across the scruffy dog's furr and to the collar slowly exploring the rim to finally find the dog tag.
He turned it toward the side rolling the collar around the dog's neck. The name 'Dodger' was enscribed on the silver plate and his eyes found the dog's eyes. "Dodger. That's your name. You have an owner then if you have a collar and a name. Lucky you." Jim was just a tad disappointed that the dog had someone to go back to and he didn't. He slowly got to his feet and dusted himself off then reached out for the sphere which quickly shut the image down.
Straightening up Jim turned the sphere round in his hand a few times before pocketing it once more in the pocket it had come from. He fixed his clothing and lowered his eyes to Dodger. "Well, Let's go find your owner and maybe she or he can help me find my identity then? Sound like a plan, Dodger?" He tilted his head and quirked a brow at the bright eyed dog.

It was weird, but the fact that this guy was comforting him did make him feel a little bit better. Then he reached for Dodger's tag and he sat up and waged his tail. Finally this guy would be able to call him by his name. The thought made him happy.
An owner? Huh. Dodger hadn't thought about it like that. Of course now that he had he supposed the collar didn't just appear out of thin air. But as far as an owner went he certainly couldn't remember anything about them. He couldn't even picture any body. So he gave a low wine and lowered his head, trying to get the point across to this guy that he didn't know his owner. But whether he would get the point or not he didn't know.
But he did have a good plan. IF they could find his owner, then maybe they COULD find out some information...surely SOMEBODY had their memory and could help them. If dodger transformed into his human counterpart then maybe they could actually talk...but at the same time he didn't want to freak the guy out. He was sure that if he was a human, and some random dog came and suddenly turned into a human, it would be weird...no he would wait a little while. He liked the dog better anyway. Except for the fleas he thought as scratched at his neck with his back leg...these things were irritating.

Jim watched the dog whine and lower his head frowning before he slowly shook his head sending strands of wet hair into his own face. He rapidly brushed his hair aside, pushing it from his forehead so he could see the dog better. "Sorry. I don't speak dog. Come on. I think it's that way... If I'm wrong we go the other way." Jim pointed to where he thought the dog had come from. He was already lost so how much more lost could you get. He'd get somewhere, he was sure.
You always got somewhere. You couldn't just get nowhere. Besides, if he kept moving he might find a place for fresh food and water. His lips felt dry. He was dehydrated, that was for certain. Heading off down the sandy shore he kept glancing down at his new companion to make sure the dog was still beside him. He could definitely remember that there was a better way to get from one place to another... just not what it was. He was sure it would come to him eventually. He just didn't understand why he was sooo... confused about everything.
They didn't walk ten minutes before they could see a few building outlining the harbour village. Jim's eyes widened and instantly he broke into a run. "Come on! Food! Water! " He called to the dog by his side. Oh boy was he ever hungery? He was sure the dog felt the same way. He just wished he had some sort of cash on him for food and water. He'd check on that later. Once he was actually in a place. It couldn't all have been washed into the ocean could it?

Dodger rolled his eyes. Doesn't speak dog. Of course not. He sighed as they started walking. He hoped it wouldn't take too long. He was getting thirsty...and he'd kill for a milkbone. But he doubted that he'd find any of those where ever they ended up. So he walked along beside the guy. Every once in a while his nose would pick up some sort of strange scent, and he would dash off into the treeline in search of whatever it was he was smelling. He never really found anything interesting though, so after a minute or two of wondering around he would run back to Jim, and they would continue walking.
It wasn't long before they found a village. It was obvious that his companion was excited. Lucky him. Most places didn't let dogs in, so if he wanted to get any food then he would have to become that human again. Boring. The dog was so much more fun. His friend started to run and the dog sighed before he began to run too, easily keeping up. This was kind of fun...there was nothing like a good run.
As they got closer Dodger slowed to a quick walk. And he looked up at the human beside him, and barked. This was about to get interesting.

Jim slowed down too when they came close to the village they had found. It seemed like a simple port town. Perhaps he could higher a boat of some sort. It was becoming all too aparent that if he wanted to actually find out who he was, he'd have to try and get back on the ship and go from there. It was a horrible concept because it would be weird to do so. Just get onto a ship and say 'Hi, I don't have a clue who I am but I kinda jumped ship here so I was wondering if you guys knew who I was?'. There had to be SOMEONE who knew who he was.
Anyone really would do. Jim nearly jumped out of his skin when the dog beside him barked out and he frowned down at it. "What?! Geez... Don't do that!" Jim growled at the mutt as they started walking into the village. Jim's blue eyes turned this way and that searching for a pub or bar where he knew he could get info from. Bars always had info on the area.
Someone had to have seen him around if he was a sailor and this was a port town. His eyes flashed to an elf, a fairy, a dwarf in complete fascination. A horse came running toward him and his eyes widened when he saw the horn on the horses head causing him to dart sharply out the way. A elf on the horses back flailed a fist at him. "Watch where you're going!" Jim winced and kinda waved in apology. "Sorry." In all the excitement he half forgot to make sure his companion was also okay,

If Dodger had been a human he would have laughed as Jim got spooked. He couldn't help but think it was a little bit funny. He sighed though they started looking around. It didn't take long for his jaw to drop in facination. He'd never seen any of these animals before. They were so strange looking. There were all sorts of odd creatures walking around, and it made him nervous, because he was by far the smallest thing around. There were creatures that were half human and half beast, and he stuck close to Jim's legs, sometimes almost running into him.
Then his shield suddenly jumped to the side and Dodger looked up to see a huge horse with a strange horn on his head. Dodger barely had time to jump out of the way, and the horse's hooves missed him by inches. He barked ferociously at the horse as it ran by and growled as he sat down beside Jim panting and looked up to him with his ears flat. He did not like this place. It was dangerous for such a small dog...and he wasn't even the smallest of his species...this was the first time he'd ever almost been trampled. He was used to dodging things...at least it had come somewhat naturally, but he was SURE the things he usually had to worry about didn't have four legs and a horn!
This was rediculous. He heard another creature approaching and he turned to see yet another one of those strange horses coming towards him. He whined and looked up at Jim, waiting to follow him somewhere where he hoped he wouldn't have to worry about getting stepped on.

Jim looked down at his barking companion finally noticing that he still had Dodger beside him and frightend too. Poor dog. He suddenly felt sympathetic and protective over the dog. Maybe if the dog's owner didn't remember him, Jim could keep him. It wouldn't be that bad. Though if he didn't have answers here he'd have to go looking for them elsewhere. On the ship he'd left most likely. He didn't know if Dodger would be all that fond of being on boats as he was. He'd have to leave Dodger here and hope the dog would still be waiting when he returned.
Jim lifted his eyes to the other horse approaching down the main street and quickly swooped down to pick up the dog into his arms darting to the side. Jim backed away from the street and found himself on the porch of what seemed to be a tavern. He suddenly realized he was holding Dodger tightly against his chest and unceremoniously dropped the dog. "I just didn't want you to dirty the road or something." Jim growled down trying to defend his moment of affection for the animal.
"Come on mutt." Jim nodded to the door and pushed it open for Dodger to enter first. Once the dog had entered he followed into a rowdy crowd of sailors and sea fairers. There were some pirates among them as well and a wave of nostalgia hit him as he looked around the tavern. Flashes of the past in another tavern hit him like a balled fist and he gasped in surprise.
"I remember this..." Had he been here before? Jim moved toward the bar and waited to be served. "What can I get ya boy? Glass of milk? Some for the dog too? No animals allowed. Move along then." Jim audibly growled and glanced down at the dog at his heels. "We're not leaving."
"That's what you say but I be thinking they don't be saying the same." Two burly looking men caught Jim's attention and their eyes were fixed on dodger and Jim. "Uh oh..." It was Jim's turn to look down at Dodger for guidance.

Why should I worry? Why should I care I might not have a dime But I got street saviore faire
Dodger stared at the oncoming horse and was so preoccupied in the creature that it surprised him when he was suddenly lifted off of the ground, he wasn't worried for long as he realized it was Jim, and he was even grateful for the rescue. As they reached the porch, Dodger looked up at Jim and licked his face. His way of saying thanks, but it was interrupted when he was suddenly dropped, landing roughly on his side. He looked up and glared at Jim and snorted. I'm not a cat you know! A little warning would be nice. Of course Jim couldn't hear his thoughts, but at least he felt better having said them.
Mutt. You know, we are going to have to come up with some understanding. I'm NOT a mutt....well maybe I am, but a mutt isn't exactly a term of endearment. Again, he was thinking all of this to himself. As Jim walked into the tavern he stood up and followed him in. He wasn't really listening to any thing that anyone in particular said. He was listening to everyone at once. People were talking about their food, talking about the ships that they were on and where they had been and what they had seen. One thing did stick out though, No animals allowed. Dodger looked up at Jim, waiting to see what he would say. We're not leaving. Aww, he did care. Dodger sat down at Jim's feet and waited to see what would happen.
Then he saw the two big guys looking their way, and he growled and rolled his eyes. Always gotta be somebody. He gave a heavy sigh and licked the back of Jim's hand, he'd just wait outside. He could find something to eat out there. He lowered his tail and sulked out of the bar, more for dramatic effect than anything else.
When he was outside he started looking around, there was a little old lady cooking something in an out door grill across the road, and he knew what to do. He reached his paws onto his head and pulled the bandanna off and the collar came with it. He picked them up and carried them out of the way a bit and dropped them against the wall of the tavern. Then he jumped off the porch and rolled around in the dirt for a minute. Now he looked like a stray for sure. Then he took in a deep breath so that he looked all skinny, and walked over to the old lady. This would work for sure. He lowered one ear and left one up, and sat down beside the lady and whined, making the perfect puppy dog face. This technique never failed.
But it did this time. The lady looked down at him and abruptly started kicking at him. You get away from my food! I don't share with mongrels! Dodger yelped and avoided the kicking foot by inches, and took off back to the tavern. He would just wait outside, maybe Jim would bring him something out. Half way across the road he was hit by a tomato that the old lady had hurled at him and it left a red blotch on his side. He barked rudely to her and walked over to the porch, picked up his stuff and lay down in the dirt beside the tavern, wondering how long Jim would be.

Jim gave a quick sigh as the dog reluctantly left. The big Burly men seemed to actually deflate before his very eyes and he frowned at them. Finally Jim turned back to bar tender who'd wandered off again. "Hey! I have a question here!" Jim practically lunged across the bar in order to speak to the man who gave a grunt. "Don't serve kids."
Jim growled and twisted round looking at the occupants of the bar. Crowds of people were talking to one another and Jim started wandering around in order to try and find out what they were speaking about. Oh the food made his stomach growl but from the tit bits of information he found that no one knew who they were. Most said that they'd woken up in their houses. Some said that they'd found pictures and drawings of loved ones and were now in search of these loved ones.
Jim wondered if he had loved ones. Siblings. A father. A mother maybe? There had to be a way to find out. Jim's thoughts kept returning to the ship he was on. If anyone knew anything about him it would be them. Jim was certain of it. He gave a slight groan and then his thoughts turned to food. If he was going to get any food for them he was going to have to steal it. Casually Jim whistled making his way to the door. The table by the door had a plate of stew sticking out.
Jim made a snappish grab for it and darted for the door causing chaos to arise in his departure. The moment he hit the outside he screamed for Dodger protecting the food under his arm as he ran as fast as he could to find a hiding place. He hoped the dog followed and when he finally stopped they were near the docks behind one holding chamber. Jim leaned against the wall huffing and puffing and slid down it to the ground. The plate was placed beside him, half of the contents having been splashed across his shirt.
The fact that he smelled of stew now, wasn't that great. "People don't know who they are. It's not just me. I have to get a boat but with what?" The orb. The answer came instantly. The orb. It wasn't of any value to him until he knew what it was right?
