If there's so much I must be Can I still just be me, The way I am?
A girl with long golden hair walked through the tall grasses of the savannah. She smiled as she ran her fingers across the tall blades of brown grass as she walked past. Everything was so beautiful...and very different than she was used to. First of all, she was walking on TWO legs now. She distinctly remembered crouching down in the grass on four. Hiding from something, or trying not to be seen. From what or who she didn't remember. It had definitely taken a little while to grow accustomed to two legs. Finding balance had taken even more time. But now she had figured out, and although she hadn't tried moving any faster than she was, she felt fairly accomplished. "HA! I'm awesome."
She smiled as she looked up at the sun as it shone over the Pride Lands. She made a face. The what?? Pride Lands....it sounded so familiar. So...not familiar. It was strange. The wind blew her hair across her face and she turned to face the wind head on. Then there was a sound. She jerked her head to her left. Something had moved. She was sure of it. There was a slight rustling in the grasses and she felt the urdge to run. "Hello?"
She stood there for a moment, but then she heard a growl. Was it a crazy animal coming to eat her? Or was it her imagination, a sound simply created by the wind blowing between some blades of the grasses. Whatever it was, it scared her, so she turned and started to run. It hadn't been long at all before she lost her balance, tripping over a loose pebble, and she fell, scratching her elbows as she hit the ground. That was it. She was tired of being this puny human that could be eaten by some big animal that did or didn't exist. So she thought about the animal she had been before turning into this clumsy two legger.
The lioness had been big, and much stronger than this scrawny girl. Smooth and sleek, and teeth. Yes, she had had teeth that could chomp down on an animal and break it's neck in half, and tear through flesh. Then she started feeling her body changing. For one thing, her hair started growing BACKWORDS, instead of getting longer, it got shorter, until it was gone completely. She was getting bigger as well, and her bones were changing shapes. She looked down at her hands and watched as her fingers grew shorter and her nails grew longer and sharper. Then she started itching everywhere as her fur came in, and she new she was done. The was once again the lion she had woke up as a few days ago.
Now she wasn't afraid of whatever had been lurking behind the grasses, and now she would face them head on.

Kovu had wandered the land for days now looking for something that instinct told him was familiar to him. The most familiar thing he could find were certain scents. Certain scents that reminded him of long lost memories and thoughts and feelings. One in particular that he felt particularly attracted to was the scent he was tracking right then. The handsome sleek male lion was light pawed in the grass moving with smooth sleek efficiancy toward the object of his prior affection. Kiara. Even the scent was like a drug to him that he could not comprehend.
Why was he tracking this being? Was she something of importance to him? Someone from his past? Kovu fell flat to the ground when he'd made his first mistake in drawing attention to himself hidden within the tall savannah grasses. He hadn't ment to make her aware of his pressence. It had come purely by accident but now that she was, he felt the instinctive need to grow at her like a moody old man cat. The low rumble sent the smell of fear coming across the grass toward him and his eyes widened.
She suddenly became prey and when she ran she was even more so. Unable to fight instinct he darted after and it was not a few strides before his prey stumbled and fell, clumbsily to the ground. Having never shifted into his human form, this strange creature that seemed so familiar to him was still strange but when she fell she started to change. Kovu stopped short of his attack, gasping at her strange shifting into a lion like himself and scrambled back into hiding, laying low. When she was a lioness and she turned to face her attacker head on, he snapped to his feet in the tall grass sticking out completely now and his eyes met hers.
She had to be the most exceptionally beautiful lioness he'd ever seen and he'd seen her before, he was sure of it. Kovu frowned and tilted his head. Suddenly he was completely disinterested in the lion and instead searching for his prey. His head shot from one side to the other. It could not have been her... She did not look like the strange creature he'd seen. It was not her. "Where's that... that thing?" He demanded then stalked forward with a fierce grow until he was just a few feet away from her, shoulders hunched and a sneer on his face, turning his handsome features rather ugly.
"And who are you?" He added with a low growl at her.

If there's so much I must be Can I still just be me, The way I am?
She looked up as the lion came up to her, and she lowered her head, ready to fight if need be, although she really hoped it didn't come to that. He was bigger than her, and probably stronger than her, and she knew that she most likely wouldn't much of a chance. He was handsome though, and vaguely familiar. And his scent filled her nose and it as strangely comforting, even though he looked only seconds away from attacking her, she felt comfortable with him, as if she had known him for a long time, she felt this odd urdge to rubb up against him, but that would be odd.
As he asked her about the "thing" she smirked and tilted her head. She decided it would be better to play dumb. No sense in encouraging him to attack her. What if he decided she was some crazy demon or something...she couldn't imagine that going over very well. So she shrugged her shoulders. "What thing I'm the only one here."
As he came closer she worried that he really would attack her, he certainly seemed prepaired to. She sat down then, and lifted her head, in an attempt to show that she didn't mean him any harm, and certainly didn't want to fight. But her next question threw her a little bit. And she didn't even realize untill she started to answer, then she realized she didn't know. But she couldn't let him think she was confused or scared, which she was both, so instead she answered his question with a question, as well as a smirk. "Well who are you?"
She felt that this was a little bit rediculous. She didn't know this guy, at least she didn't recall him, and he didn't know her, and they were already jumping down each other's throats. She sighed and rolled her eyes, and made an attempt to be nice. She hoped that he would take the bait and quit looking at her like a scrap of meat he was ready to tear apart. "Hey, do you know where we are? I've been trying to remember but I can't remember anything except waking up yesterday morning."

She was smirking at him? What was so funny? That thing was nothing to joke about. Kovu let a low growl rumble from his chest as he watched her smirk and listen to the words she spoke. One moment there had been a thing there, the next it was a lion and Kovu was all sorts of confussed unless it had been... her. No Impossible. She was a lion. She was a lioness. Her smile. Those eyes. She sat down and Kovu blinked for a bit when she didn't instantly attack like he'd wanted to. But then there was one part of him that didn't want to ever hurt her.
When she sat down he gave a groan and sat down too. Fine. He wouldn't fight her. She threw the question back at him and he shook his head. "I asked you first and there was a thing here unless you are the thing and in that case... how'd you do that?" His eyes lit up with curiousity leaning his head foward a bit with interest. All the anger and annoyance seemed to have faded with the growing curiousity about this familiar beautiful lioness.
She asked him where they were and told him she'd just woken up and found that she didn't have a clue where she was. Kovu gave a sigh and glanced back to pride rock before looking to her. "Did you wake up there with a group of other lions? " He said to her gently then looked off into the distance. "I think if we both forgot who we are, we'll need to find someone who does know. " He looked to her again and shook his shoulders as if he were getting ready to dart.
"What do you say? Let's go find ourselves?" He nodded toward the outlands which would meet the desert and then he darted off laughing at leaving her so sharply behind.

Kiara smiled as he sat down. Jumping for joy on the inside. But he still wasn't being very polite. Of course she didn't really expect him to be. But his question made her nervous, but she didn't really know why. She shrugged and lowered her head a little bit, closing her eyes for a minute. "Yes, that was me. But I don't really know how I did it...it just kind of...happened."
Waking up with a bunch of lions? She nodded her head. "Yep, that sounds about right."
Aw, so, he didn't know who HE was either. HA and he was so adament about her telling HIM. She smirked as she watched him stand up. uh oh, this doesn't look good. Sure enough as he said his final words he darted off. She sighed as she stood up, shook the dust of off her back and took off. "Hey! Wait up!"
She HATED being left behind. the competitive side of her came out and she caught up quickly. She was a lioness, built for running and catching her prey. She smiled as she ran, but then saw where they were going and slid to a halt. "Woah!"
She stood at the edge of a cliff. At the bottom there was a river, and inside the river seemed to be several alligators. And although she didn't know if THEY remembered who they were, but she had a good idea that they hadn't forgoten how to eat. She looked across at the desert that went as far into the distance as she could see. "Maybe we should go somewhere else..."
She glanced at the lion beside her, wondering what he would decide to do. She knew for certain that she was NOT going down there. To many alligators. Although... "This is kind of familiar...but I don't know why."

Kovu stopped at the edge of a cliff and looked down into the great lakes where the waters were thriving with alligators and wildlife. He remembered some of it. He remembered being frightened which was what she might have remembered as well and he wondered if this had been an experience well known to lions in general or just one the two of them shared. He hoped for the latter, his eyes once more finding the lioness beside him, seeing the fear in her eyes. For a moment he felt like comforting her, like pressing his head against hers... like nipping and licking at her lips and telling her that there was nothing to fear as long as they were together.
Kovu's tender side failed and his determination took over his facial features. If she didn't want to come with him, he had no time or room for cowards on this quest. He had to found out who he was. What he was. This was more important then anything else and if he was king of these lands, imagine the glee he'd bring to his pride when he brought back all their names... if in fact they didn't know who they were either. He'd be able to have his pick of mates. A little bit of a darker look slipped into his features making him look all the more like his former leader, Scar.
"I'm not forcing you to come with me. Stay here then. Coward." He hissed coldly at her then made a sort of fained attack on her before he lurched off down the hill, his paws bringing up sand as they glided along the ground. Finally he lunched himself into the water with a loud splash. Kovu was still, having found his feet in the shallow end as he looked around him. Everything was still. Everything was calm. Of course only until a huge alligator was spotted making it's beeline toward kovu through the water.
Kovu's eyes widened considerably before he twisted for the shore and bolted onto it. The alligator snapped at him repeatedly causing him to roar back in furious anger. A sharp swipe of his huge paw sent the alligator sprawling back into the water. Self confidence returned Kovu shot a smirk up at Kiara.

If there's so much I must be Can I still just be me, The way I am?
Kiara looked up at him as he spoke, calling her a coward. She growled at him as he ran off down the hill. She'd show him. There had to be another way across...one that was safer. She turned away from the edge and never saw him get attacked by the alligator, but she heard him roar so she only assumed as much. I'll show him.
She had only been walking along the edge for a few minutes when she found a log. It was a very large log and apparently the tree had fallen in a way that perfectly fit the length of the ravine. It was the perfect way to get across. It was wide enough to support her weight, and high enough up that the alligators wouldn't be able to reach her, PLUS it was within eye sight of the rude lion, so he would be able to see her success.... Ha!
She strutted up to the log and put her two front feet on it, and bounced a little testing it to make sure it would hold her weight. It was old, and a little rotten, but surely it would hold up long enough for her to get across. So she hopped up and started the short walk across. She was just barely half way across when she heard a snapping sound, and she looked down to see it starting to crack in front of her. She glared at it. You'll just have to wait to break until I get across because I am NOT turning around.
So she kept up, although moving more slowly than before, and when she got to the middle the log snapped. She gasped as she instinctively lay down and dug her claws in to help from falling as the log began to cave in on it's self. With a sudden realization the the log was about to tumble into the river below, she stood and made a mad dash for the end. She wasn't fast enough though. The log fell of the ledge right as she jumped to reach the other ledge. She made it. She was successful, but only barely. Right now she had her claws dug into the ledge of the cliff and she was hanging on for dear life. If her claws slipped, she would fall into the river where several alligators were swarming, just waiting for her to fall.

Kovu's confident smirk faded when the girl he was shooting the confident smirk at, had disappeared. He whirled around, eyes searching for her and found her running across the ledge. His nervous paws pattered across the wet ground before he bounded across it, following her nervously across the leg until he found himself face to face with a basking aligator. He came to an abrupt hault just inches from the aligator and stared at it for a moment before backing up a few steps.
His eyes flashed to the lioness once more and he nervously watched her. Kovu shook his head at her having reached the fallen tree that span across the river and his eyes widened when she went across it anyway. The crack echoed down into the rivien and Kovu visibly winced unable to move as she started across. His breath caught in his throat and he fell down on the ground. He didn't wanna look and yet he couldn't tear his eyes away from her. 'Please,' He begged the spirits above.
'Please... let her make it across please....' "NO!" Kovu was on his feet as the log crumbled into the river and she dashed across it jumping before it fell. He ran into the water and flailed and splashed causing the Aligators to instantlyt come to life swimming his way. Kovu let out an almighty roar only causing the aligators to hover for a milisecond before they advanced again.
One lunged for him and got him by the mane but he was quick enough to rip himself away. His claws dug into the next and he managed to heave himself onto it then it was just a matter of jumping across them, another dive into the water and he found his footing on the floor of the river bed though he could feel the sting of the aligator bite on the back of his neck. He scrambled out of the water then felt the clamp of teeth around his paw and he twisted round to dig his teeth straight into the head of the particular alligator who instantly let go.
Kovu scrambled up the wall of the rivien and reached the ledge on the other side before dashing to the hanging lioness. His teeth gently wrapped around her scruff before pulling her up the other side and collapsing when he was sure she was safe. His leg was bleeding. His neck was bleeding and none of this would have happened if it wasn't for miss smart ass. His worried look turned into a glare aimed at her as he lay there face to face with her.

If there's so much I must be Can I still just be me, The way I am?
She heard the roar and looked down to see him swiming across the water. Is he stupid?? He's going to get ripped apart! She watched as the aligators swarmed towards him and she watched with her heart racing as he made his way across and up the ravine. When he pulled her up she lay down breathing heavily, more from fear than anything else... "That was insane! Thank y-"
She turned to really look at him then and stopped mid sentence. He looked pretty beat up and she felt bad, but that feeling didn't last long because she caught him glaring at her. So instead of being nice and asking if he was ok, she glared back. "What?"
Was he thinking that she was an idiot? At least she didn't get nearly torn apart by aligators. She HAD found a safer route, sure the log had broken, but it would have been perfectly fine if she'd been moving a little faster. But she tried to avoid a fight, so instead of bringing all of those points to the surface, she sighed and sat down beside him. "Thank you for rescueing me. I'm sorry you got hurt."
